Hmm…this is a pretty tough one.

    In no particular order:

VAMPS when they were just in NY. With Like a Storm opening that was two of my top 5 on the same stage in the same night, and one that I didn’t think I’d ever get the chance to see live, so that’s definitely up there.

Bowling for Soup at the Wonderbar in Asbury Park. It wasn’t that it was the most amazing performance I’ve ever seen, but the fates aligned in a way that just made it sort of the perfect venue for the band at the time, and I discovered Patent Pending that night, who rocketed from ‘never heard of them’ to ‘top 5’ in one performance. It deserves a place in the top 5 concerts on nostalgia alone.

Alter Bridge at the Starland Ballroom. Another band that completely shines in a live environment. And, the show where I discovered Like a Storm. Solid show all around.

New Found Glory/Alkaline Trio double-headliner at the Starland Ballroom. The concert that proved to me that some women really do throw bras at the stage. I have not seen that before or since. But, again, two bands I love on the same stage in the same night. Something would have to go horribly wrong for it to not make the list.

Picking the 5th one is tough, because I should, by rights, include the recent Slash w/Myles Kennedy concert. I mean, it’s SLASH, so on street cred alone he should be in here. And, there was also Sick Puppies at the Stone Pony (I may be jaded about Sick Puppies now, but that doesn’t diminish what they were at the time). They’d both make the top ten for sure, but the top 5 spot goes to Humanwine/Folks Below last year at the Steampunk World’s Faire, because I can’t not include the duo that I was lukewarm to going in, but who completely won me over so completely in live performance that I bought a t-shirt.

    1. Pie Face Girls (My band played with them, that same night their smokin hot bass player Tiffany and I officially became a couple, the singer in my band and their singer became a couple, somebody got a bottle smashed on their head and went to the hospital, another person got alcohol poisoning, and several others were kicked out for generally “fuckin shit up”) 2. High on Fire (helped with the show and got to hang out with them, their drummer Des used the Mapex kit that belongs to my band Grohg),
    3. Melvins (Threw up in parking lot before the show, peed myself later that night when I went to sleep), 4. Sun kill moon ( Sonic Youth’s drummer played my drum kit that night, and I was there when the lead singer Mark Kozelek called everyone “fucking hillbillies” and told us all to “shut the fuck up”. Hated his lame ass music, even before the incident) 5. Grohg (first show as their new drummer, myself replacing Will Goodyear on the drums so he could front and play guitar, also Grohgs first show in over a year as well as mine at the time) I think thats it. There are more but those are the top 5 I would say. Whats yours?

But I had the best time ever, I even meet some awesome new friends there :)
